Art. 3 ECHR

The United States commenced extradition proceedings against the applicant, who was arrested in the United Kingdom in connection with cheque fraud. The ECtHR ruled that the extradition of the applicant to the United States breaches art. 3 ECHR, since he was to be detained on death row in Virginia for an expected six to eight years.
