Ruling
The placing of the organic production logo of the European Union is not authorized on products derived from animals which have been slaughtered in accordance with religious rites without first being stunned.
(The request for a preliminary ruling has been made in proceedings between the Association Œuvre d’Assistance aux Bêtes d’Abattoirs (OABA) and the French Ministre de l’Agriculture et de l’Alimentation and Others, on the application of OABA for the prohibition of the advertising and marketing of beef products bearing the brand “Tendre France”, certified “halal” and showing the indication “organic farming”).
